Collaboration Needs and Opportunities

As climate change progresses, it is clear that we need cross-scale and cross-sector collaboration to advance solutions that facilitate a just and sustainable future. Sustainability, climate, and environmental institutions are increasingly working to collaborate and support local efforts to advance effective initiatives. These efforts are catalytic in addressing how communities  often need cross-sector support in order to build their capacities, remedy their barriers, and access decision-making spaces. Collaboration that fosters community-driven solutions is important to facilitate pathways that lead to equitable impacts and heal our social and ecological relationships.

Moreover, the perspectives and needs of communities from the local to the international level are essential to uphold in order to improve our social  and ecological relationships at the global level. The collaboration between Global North and South communities is particularly important to address disparities in climate, social, and environmental impacts and responsibilities.

However, it is not often easy for institutions and organizations to build partnerships with communities because of lack of relationships and trust. Moreover, communities often have limited capacity to participate in initiatives without appropriate capacity building and equitable collaboration. Often, sustainability, climate, and environmental efforts often lack knowledge on the priorities, needs, and existing work of communities. This is amplified at the global level and Global North and South Interface.

Find Partners and Support

In order to facilitate connections and equitable collaboration that advance productive partnerships and capacity building, Equity and Sustainability Consulting is working to connect sustainability, climate, and environmental efforts across sectors from the local to the international levels. This Project is meant to collect information on the needs, priorities, and capacities of organizations, groups, and communities for collaboration. The form bit.ly/fostercollaboration can be filled out by any interested party in collaborating on sustainability, climate, and environmental topics across sectors and scales. There is no fee to fill out the form.

Equity and Sustainability Consulting will use this information to match potential collaborators based on their shared interests and potential for collaboration. Those that receive services and support from the Fostering Collaboration Project will need to commit to uphold equitable collaboration principles and practices.

Established organizations, institutions, and initiatives will be charged a sliding fee of $300 for finding and connecting them to potential partners and additional costs for equitable collaboration consulting. Marginalized communities will not pay for the connection to potential partners.

Advance Equitable Collaboration

Once connections and partnerships are facilitated, there is also a need for collaborators to build their practical knowledge with equitable collaboration to ensure that partnerships mitigate power dimensions, appropriately support marginalized communities, create ethical spaces, uphold diverse cultures and support collective decision-making. Equity and Sustainability Consulting offers additional guidance, training, consultation, and resources to facilitate the implementation of equitable collaboration in projects, programs, organizations, institutions, and coalitions. Established organizations, institutions, and initiatives will be charged for Equitable Collaboration services, and marginalized communities will be provided with pro bono equitable collaboration support as possible.
